IN TRANSIT: The Performer
On a hot day in the summer of 2016 Katzenstein took the Q Train to Coney Island with plans to travel the length of the boardwalk to Brighton Beach. When the train resurfaced above ground in Brooklyn the daylight turned the interior of the car into a perfectly lit lighbox. The scene that unfolded was classic New York. A shirtless muscled performer began to dance to the rhythms of his boombox and performed acrobatic feats as the train barreled down the tracks. The captive audience approved. When the train arrived at its final destination the performer packed his things and crossed the track, boarding the Manhattan bound car to begin all over again.
