CHAMULA: All Saints Day
San Juan Chamula is a town in the state of Chiapas, located about six miles from San Cristobal de las Casas. It is the home of the Tzotzil Maya people and the town enjoys unique autonomous status within Mexico. No outside police or military are allowed in the village. I arrived at the town center as the celebration of All Saints Day was in progress, and with respect to the culture of the local population was able to document the scene while maintaining a distance from the center of the event.
