NO KINGS PROTESTS - NYC
This series includes photographs from the rallies that took place in New York city on Saturday, April 19 and Saturday, October 18, where on both occasions tens of thousands of protestors gathered in 100's of locations across the nation to protest the egregious actions of the Trump administration.
Protesters in Manhattan began to congregate at 11am in front of the steps of the library at Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street on April 19 and in Times Square on October 18, holding handmade placards while groups traded chants and songs. There were no formal speakers at either event.
On April 19 people spilled out onto Fifth Avenue for blocks as police stood by observing, blocking and rerouting traffic when necessary. At a given time the protesters began marching uptown spreading out for blocks and blocks, eventually ending en masse at Grand Army Plaza at 59th Street and Fifth Avenue, where groups once again gathered together to chant and sing songs of protest. The crowd on October 18 was much larger than the previous gathering, with protestors filling the streets from 47th to 14th along 7th Avenue.
