Netherlands
NETHERLANDS - While traveling in The Netherlands a number of years ago I took a break from the urban centers and headed for the beaches of Zeeland, the province located in the southwest corner of the country. In summertime the area is flooded with bathers from local towns and neighboring countries, but in early spring when I was there the desolation added to the natural beauty of the terrain. Tides are famously large, with walkways jutting out into the water seeming to lead to islands in the near distance that appear as the water subsides. This image is my homage to Dutch painting, framing a scene within a scene.
