Morocco
MOROCCO - The first assignment I landed from Rolling Stone Magazine was like a dream come true. I was to travel to a remote village in Morocco with the famed music writer Robert Palmer and spend a week documenting the lives of The Master Musicians of Jajouka, a group that traced its musical heritage back centuries to the royal court in Rabat. On top of that the renowned jazz composer and pianist Randy Weston and his quintet were also part of the mix. My favorite part of the journey was accompanying Robert Palmer as he retraced his steps back to the village of the musicians, a bucolic setting nestled in a valley in the Rif Mountains. I love the juxtaposition between the subject and dog in this village scene.
